Dr. Jedd Hillegass is a distinguished toxicologist with extensive expertise in occupational toxicology and nonclinical drug safety. Since 2014, Dr. Hillegass has been contributing to Bristol Myers Squibb in various capacities, playing a pivotal role in advancing the company’s occupational toxicology and nonclinical safety initiatives.
Currently serving as a Scientific Associate Director leading the Product Quality & Occupational Toxicology group within Nonclinical Safety at Bristol Myers Squibb, Dr. Hillegass serves as a subject matter expert and leads efforts related to occupational toxicology across BMS globally, including identifying occupational health hazards via in silico, in vitro and in vivo testing to support worker safety and hazard communication, evaluating pharmacological and toxicological data to aid in establishing health-based exposure limits, and performing toxicology risk assessments for impurities, quality events, and extractables and leachables.
Dr. Hillegass is deeply involved in industry consortia such as the Occupational Toxicology Roundtable, Extractables and Leachables Safety Information Exchange, and IQ DruSafe, reflecting his commitment to advancing the science of toxicology. In addition to being a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology, Dr. Hillegass is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. He has authored or co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications during his academic and professional career and is currently an active member of both the Society of Toxicology and the American College of Toxicology.
