About Allan

Allan Goodman received his BSc in Applied Chemistry and doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. After completing Post Doctoral research at UMass, Amherst, Allan worked in both academic and industrial settings, mainly involved in Medicinal Chemistry R&D. These positions always required the use, and sometimes misuse, of ventilated enclosures such as fume hoods, and he provided a better understanding of the safety cultures in both environments.

Allan joined Flow Sciences in 2014, as their ‘Lab Manager’. In this role he was responsible for the testing and validation of the containment around the enclosures offered. This includes the routine evaluation, under test standards such as ASHRAE-110, up to full surrogate powder tests. This role granted him exposure to the various needs of clients and a good understanding of the solutions required to meet those needs. In 2023 Allan moved into a sales and business development role where he directly assists clients with their containment needs.

In his spare time he likes to travel, with South America (and Antarctica) as the continents that he still has yet to visit.
